Memories

Harley starts to run to the mysterious man. Now that she’s closer, she can see that the man is standing very still under the yellow light of a lamppost, his face under shadow as he looks towards the sea. He wears a very long beige coat that covers his body at every inch. It's hard to see much of him at all.

Harley stops before him. The man is still looking at the sea and doesn’t seem to notice her.

“Excuse me, mister?”

At the sound of her voice, the man shifts and looks down at her.

“Yes?” he responds with a deep gravelly voice.

“Can you tell me where I am?” Harley asks shyly. She can’t help but feel anxious about speaking to this stranger. He stands tall and straight, the shadow of his hat covering his face, and his hands in his pockets. It’s almost as if he looms over her with how much she has to tilt her head up.

“This is Silvercove Harbor, little miss. But what are you doing here all by yourself?”

Harley hums as she ponders over what to say.

Tell the truth.
Excuse yourself and bid farewell.
